Updates

And so here we are and its June 30, 2009. Half the year is over. Where did it go? I'm really not sure. But I figured I'd offer an update to let you all know how we're doing and what has been happening.

First of all, this is the first blog post at the new blog address. It just became kind of a pain in the @$$ to log in to the old email account every time I wanted to update something. Now its no longer an issue.

First off, MANY thanks to everyone who came to our party in May. The weather could not have been more perfect. We really had a fabulous time. It was great getting to visit with friends we haven't seen in quite a while. Many thanks for the memories of yard games, riding the lawn carts down the hill, giant bonfires, roasting marshmallows from 20' away (see previous memory), good homebrew, good friends, good memories.

Since then, it seems we've had a really busy spring. Both my photography business and my consulting business have been busy. Photography really stepped up due to the horse show season and Dave has been a life saver. He pretty much, single handedly, runs the booth at horse shows. This year we did 3 weekends in a row of 3-day horse shows. Long days filled with horses is not exactly Dave's paradise. But he humors me and by doing so, allows me to really explore and develop my passion for equine photography. It doesn't get much better than getting paid to do something you really love to do, right? I love that the photography also trickles over into web design and allows me to build some very cool websites for clients. Most of them are horse related (breeding farms, non-profits, etc.) but I have also built sites for banks, rental properties, etc. Why do I mention this? Well...I guess just keep me in mind if you come across someone who needs a website for their business.

My wellness consulting business continue to move forward, but at a slower pace than what I would like. Although apparently its not my intention for it to speed ahead or I would make it happen...right? Hmmm...something to contemplate for sure! At any rate, myself and 2 of my business partners are really growing the Martinsville and Greenwood Indiana areas with the
Transitions Lifestyle System. Follow the link to watch a short video on Transitions. Its a comprehensive, clinically proven weight management system encompassing 3 factors: 1. Low-glycemic Food choices; 2. Changing Body Composition through Exercise; and 3. Behavior Modification/Education. Its a fabulous program that I both live and teach. If anyone is interested in learning more about this program either for themselves, friends of family, just shoot me an email. I'd be happy to chat with you about it.

David is doing well. He has been working long hours lately to keep up with a large project with work. I know its been stressing him out a bit, but I think the end is in site -- or at least he claims it is. The good news is that there is another big project for him after that. I could complain, but I'm thrilled he loves his work and has a job that pays him well.

We are also planning some trips this summer. In early August, I'll be roadtripping to Greensboro, NC for the annual Market America International Convention. Its an amazing event and I'm excited to be able to attend, especially since I didn't get to go to the World Conference in February (in Miami, FL). Market America is the parent company for the Transitions Lifestyle System that I mentioned above. Market America also offers everybody a way to get t paid to shop. Its really easy, just visit my market america portal, register as a preferred customer and then click on "Shop partners." You get reward points for shopping at all the places you would normally shop anyways (BestBuy, Macy's, Drugstore.com, etc.). There are literally thousands of partner stores, so you can find whatever you want!

For those of you who have known Dave for a while, you know that the Camry has been his longest relationship. Well, I'm here to tell you that the Camry has finally been replaced. I know...I know...you thought it would never happen. Based ont he rust stains on my drive way, so did I! But its true. Its been replaced by my grandma's Grand Marquis. From rust heap to land cruiser. But what do you do with a Toyota Camry with 320,000 miles on it? Why drive it to Alaska, of course! And so that is just what we're planning to do. The dates aren't set, but its looking like mid-august we'll spend a week driving up to the MTL, spend a few days hanging out and then fly home.

And we have one more trip on the books as well...to Montana for my Uncle's 60th birthday. My aunt and uncle live out in the mountains outside Libby, MT. Its a gorgeous place and I'm excited we're going to visit for a full week!

That's pretty much what we're up to right now...or at least this brings you up to speed. More to come -- and more frequently, I promise!

Excursions

Last night we booked an excursion for Monday in Kona. Dave has been itching to dive at Kona (not just snorkel) since before we went to Kona a couple years ago. He's finally going to have his chance! We have booked a dive/snorkel excursion for Monday. We're going to be doing a Manta Ray two tank dive. Well, let me correct that...Dave is going to be doing a dive along with friends Sip and Luke. Myself and my parents are going to snorkel. I'm really excited about this and I know my parents are going to be thrilled as well. They've never done anything like this before. The excursion starts in the afternoon with a late afternoon snorkel (or dive for those that are diving). Once the divers are in the water, then the snorkelers get to get in and check out the reef for a while. Then everybody gets out, has some dinner on the boat and then we head over to the second dive site where the Manta Rays feed. This is going to be really awesome!

Glacier Park - Sept 2009

On Sunday, September 6, we flew to Kalispell, MT and spent the remainder of the week hiking around northwestern Montana. We spent 4 days with my aunt and uncle, who live outside Libby, MT. Then we headed to Glacier National Park and enjoyed breathtaking scenery and gorgeous weather! Here are a few photos from our time in Glacier.
